Position Summary
The Experienced Liquid Industrial Painter is responsible for applying industrial coatings to metal and other surfaces using spray equipment in accordance with job specifications and company standards. This position requires a high level of skill, attention to detail, and knowledge of industrial paint systems, surface preparation, and safety practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and clean surfaces for painting, including masking, sanding, and degreasing.
- Mix and apply liquid industrial coatings (epoxies, urethanes, enamels, primers, etc.) using spray guns and other application tools.
- Interpret job travelers, blueprints, and specification sheets to determine paint type, mix ratios, and coating thickness.
- Inspect finished surfaces for quality, uniformity, and adherence to specifications.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of spray guns, hoses, and paint booth equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols, including PPE use, ventilation requirements, and material handling procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of materials used, paint batches, and job completion details.
- Collaborate with production and quality control teams to ensure timely completion of work orders.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an industrial or automotive painter in a manufacturing or coatings environment.
- Strong knowledge of liquid coating systems, including epoxy, urethane, and high-performance finishes.
- Ability to properly mix and apply multi-component coatings
- Capable of using wet mil gauges and other paint inspection tools.
- Commitment to safety and cleanliness in the work area.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on feet for extended periods.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in a custom or high-volume industrial setting.
- Knowledge of powder coating or other coating processes a plus.
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain one.
